WhatsApp has developed a new function which attempt to improve the user’s engagement in the conversations in chat. The new features allow for the display of animation representing the ‘…” which appears as an indication at the bottom of a chat screen. This benefits the chat for both single as well as group conversations. This comes further after last month’s deployment of voice messages transcribing feature which enhanced the interaction with audio messages.
Improved Typing Indicators
According to Meta, the new typing indicator feature shows animated cues at the bottom of the chat which include “…” if a profile picture of the person typing is visible, then that means the person is typing. This particular feature is useful in group chats where it is important to know who is currently typing when there are many people typing at the same time.
Previously, typing notifications were displayed in the form of a banner across the upper end of the screen. Whereas the new tools enhance immersion, aiming to keep users engaged in conversations. This feature was first noticed in October and made it available to a small number of beta testers, meaning it can now be used on Android and IOS.
Another Features added A Year Earlier.
Last year in November WhatsApp rolled out transcription for voice messages which allowed users to have a readable text version of received voice messages. Currently, this feature is available only on Android, and where the languages supported are English, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. More languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, German, and Japanese are available on iOS. All transcription is performed on the local device, which is in keeping with WhatsApps privacy and encryption standards.
Was the update supported by all platforms?
All these new update including typed messages indicator are available on Android and iOS versions of the WhatsApp. Most of the functions will simplify communication which will suit users around the globe in a better way.
