As part of the updates on the Gemini AI assistant, gusts will now be able to send messages and call from a locked screen on Android devices. Currently, this feature has a limited rollout, but it should be noted that this functionalities feature was seen in the beta version earlier it launch. This particular feature is embedded in the latest version of the Gemini application, version 1.0.686588308.
What You Should Know about the Locked Feature
In a wide range of cases the lock screen calling and messaging Bolivar is not enabled which is usually the norm. Users are able to switch it on when navigating to “Gemini on Lock Screen” under the “Gemini settings” section and toggle on the option to call and text from locked devices.
As per Google, for this feature to work, Users have to enable the calling and messaging apps in Gemini in case they are never engaged in the task. After enabling it, the user has to tell Gemini the phone number, which appears in the message without having the need to unlock the phone.
Additional Details
At this time, the feature is still in its infancy and is still being introduced to everyone. Likewise, Gemini is developing additional extensions for its phone and messages apps to improve its usability, although these are not necessary for the lock screen feature.
