mini cloud computer that is meant to compete with devices like Apple’s Mac
mini. The device is able to connect to windows 365 while offering immense power
due to rapidly evolving cloud architecture. Its dimensions allow high
performance in a small package. Windows 365 Link is 120mm x 120mm x 30mm.
Key Features
Elimination of Passwords as a Factor for
Protection: To protect the devices information,
Windows 365 Link makes use of Microsoft Entra ID for password less verification
and fully depends on a cloud architecture which decreases chances of cloud
piracy.
Admin-Free Operation:
As a self-serve solution, this device is also easy and secure as it provides
support for users who do not have access to admin rights.
Doesn’t Take Much Time in Configuration:
Once the device is connected, it only takes a few minutes for the device to be
in a ready to use state. The IT personnel only need to integrate the new
devices with other PCs that are managed by Microsoft Intune.
Environmental Wholism and Packaging
The Windows 365 Link is indicative of Microsoft’s
desire to be green. It is constructed with a minimum of 50% of recycled
materials and comes with 100% recyclable paper-based packaging. It also has a
design that is repairable which reduces waste and increases usefulness.
Ideal Use Cases
It is a perfect fit for organizations that already use
or want to implement Windows 365. The device works well in shared settings like
hot desks, call centers, reception areas, and labs. It provides the necessary
means to operate efficiently and safely with lower-end devices.
Availability
The device is still in preview and is currently
available in selected countries including the US, UK, Germany, Japan,
Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. The wide availability of the device is set
to take place by the first half of 2025.
Requirements and Compatibility
For example, a business might need to buy the Windows
365 Link in addition to other add-ons like Windows 365 Enterprise, Windows 365
Frontline, or Windows 365 Business as it does not integrate into Microsoft
Azure Virtual Desktop or Dev Box.
